Tunisia
The Tunisian National Tourist Office is set to take 20 agents on an educational to Tunis in October.
The fam follows the success of an earlier educational run in June which really helped agents see what a liberal and beautiful country Tunisia was. Few of the 13 agents who went on the trip had been to Tunisia before and all noted the cleanliness of the destination and how friendly the people were.
This next trip will see 20 agents fly out to Tunis to discover the hidden treasures of the capital’s medina and visit some of the country’s golf courses, spas and archeological sites.
The previous fam explored Hammamet and Sousse, Port El Kantaoui, Sidi Bou Said, Carthage, Kairouan and the magnificent coliseum at El Jem. Agents visited the newly opened spa in Yasmine Hammamet; the Royal Med Spa, which is leading the way for spas in North Africa.
Agents sampled Tunisia’s traditional specialities such as briks, fish, couscous, Tunisian pastries as well as Tunisian wines and beers and vegetarians were pleasantly surprised by the availability and choice of vegetarian dishes. The last evening was spent dining at the Residence, part of the Leading Hotels of the World, a five-star hotel in Gammarth, a favourite amongst celebrities, business-men and politicians alike with its own spa and golf course opening mid-July 2008.
Namibia
Wise up on Namibia and you could be off on one of three trips to the destination planned for later this year.
Those chosen for the educational will all start their adventure in Windhoek and then split out on three different itineraries – one focusing on desert experiences, one on wildlife and the third on adventure/culture.
To be in with a chance of a place on the trip, you need to sign up and complete the four training modules at www.namibiaknowitall.co.uk and then email info@namibiatourism.co.uk explaining WHY you should go to Namibia and WHAT you would like to experience – in around 30 words.
The deadline for entering is Tuesday October 14 and winners will be notified by Friday October 2008. The trip will depart London on November 21 in the evening and arrive back into London on 26 November in the morning.
Please note there will be a charge of £160 to cover airport taxes
ORLANDO
Orlando Challenges agents to gain a place on fam trip of a lifetime.
THE Orlando Tourism Bureau and its theme park partners, Universal Parks & Resorts, Walt Disney World Resort and Worlds of Discovery, are challenging travel agents and tour operators across the UK and Ireland to gain a place on their 2008 super fam.
The trip offers travel professionals the ultimate Orlando educational, showcasing many of the destination’s most popular attractions. SeaWorld amazing new waterpark, Aquatica, take a journey through Springfield on the new Simpsons ride at Universal Studios, interact with Buzz and Woody in Toy Story Mania at the Magic Kingdom, as well as finding a bargain at one of Orlando’s many outlet centres, are just some of the experiences lucky agents can look forward to. Plus many more!
To become eligible for a place on the December trip, all agents need to do is register and complete the Orlando Tourism Bureau’s online training programme, the Orlando Holiday Challenge, at www.orlandoholidaychallenge.co.uk by October 1, 2008.
The nearly 800 who have already completed the five modules need not despair. The Bureau has recently launched a new interactive element that travel professionals need to complete to become eligible for a place on the trip.
The newest addition to the Bureau’s online training initiative highlights many of the popular and iconic holiday attractions around the International Drive area of Orlando. Participants are challenged to race against the clock to click and drag attractions to their correct placing along one of Orlando’s most famous landmarks, while the clock ticks with only three minutes to complete the task.
Zoe Ward-Waring, Orlando UK & Ireland representative, Orlando Tourism Bureau, commented: “We are extremely proud to announce our second annual ‘Super Fam’ to Orlando and demonstrate our commitment to continually providing the UK and Ireland travel trade with the kind of in-depth knowledge they need to sell all the major aspects of the destination. The feedback we have gained from last year’s fam has been unbelievable. It brought the destination to such a large group of travel professionals and even now, those who went on the trip are communicating on social networks with the people they met on the trip and sharing their experiences.”
Last December saw the Orlando Tourism Bureau and its partners host the UK’s largest and most spectacular ever educational, taking 84 travel professionals to the destination and spending two days at the Universal Parks & Resort, Walt Disney World Resort and Worlds of Discovery. A final day was spent enjoying a day at Winter Garden and shopping at one of Orlando’s famous shopping outlets.
